From the bustling streets of Miami, my little family and I decided to embark on our baby’s first mini road trip, setting our sights on the picturesque West Palm Beach for a weekend staycation. Matt had never been, and I wanted him to experience what the city has to offer.

As the wheels of our car turned towards this coastal oasis, I could feel the palpable excitement for the newest member of our family: his first-ever staycation trip.

Rosemary Square: A Bustling Haven

West Palm Beach unveiled its charm right from our first stop: Rosemary Square. This rejuvenated urban district offers several food and shopping options. With its harmonious blend of historic architecture and modern art installations, every corner seemed Instagram-worthy. Twinkling lights above, the sound of the dancing fountains, and a parade of local artisans, cafes, and boutiques made it the perfect backdrop for our family photos and memories.

My favorite find was coming across Rohi’s READERY an award-winning social justice-driven children’s bookstore and learning center dedicated to critical literacy. I can’t wait to go back for some of their programming.

The Breakers Hotel: A Dive into History

As the warm Florida sun hit its zenith, we made our way to the legendary Breakers Hotel. Words often fall short of encapsulating the grandeur of this historic site. The Italian Renaissance-style architecture seemed to whisk us to a European paradise, with the vast, sparkling Atlantic Ocean at its doorstep. As we wandered through its grand hallways, the hotel’s rich history, which dates back to the late 1800s, unfolded around us. With every intricate fresco and opulent chandelier, we could sense the echoes of the many storied guests that once graced its halls. Spending an afternoon here felt like a delightful journey back in time, albeit with all the modern luxuries one could wish for.

Worth Ave: More than Just a Street

No trip to West Palm Beach would be complete without a leisurely stroll down the iconic Worth Ave. Known for its upscale boutiques and restaurants, Worth Ave extends from the Intracoastal all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. But it’s more than just a shopping destination. The Mediterranean-inspired architecture, hidden courtyards, and blooming flowers vividly represent West Palm Beach’s affluent charm. As we wandered, it became evident why this street is not just famous but a symbol of the city’s timeless elegance.

Driving back to Miami Sunday evening, with our baby softly cooing in the back, we couldn’t help but reflect on our delightful staycation. But if you’re not in the mood for a drive, hop on the Brightline or Tri-Rail from Miami for a seamless journey. Whether it’s a family getaway or a romantic escapade, West Palm Beach promises a refreshing blend of history, luxury, and coastal beauty. So, why wait? Pack your bags and let the allure of West Palm Beach beckon!
